Hei Scoopers,

It feels like Oslo’s streets are starting to show symptoms of football fever. After hosting Europe’s first‑ever UEFA Women’s Champions League final in Norway last weekend – when Barcelona thrashed Lyon 4–0 at Ullevaalhttps: and Spikersuppa and Rådhusplassen buzzed with fan festivalshttps, the city barely has time to breathe.
Now all eyes turn to the men’s showpiece: Paris Saint‑Germain versus Arsenal at Budapest’s Puskás Arénahttps on 30 May For Arsenal fans this run feels like seeing Halley’s Comet. After ending a 22‑year Premier League drought they have a shot at an historic double.

It’s not just the pubs that are preparing. Fotballfesten is planning public screenings at Ullevaal Stadium and in Kongens gate for the upcoming World Cup and pop‑up screens are expected across the city again this weekend.
If you’re not into football, don’t worry – Oslo Scoop is still your ticket to all the other good stuff. From cocktails and concerts to art shows and guided walks, we’ve got you covered.

“Where can we watch the game like a civilised human but still scream when our team scores?” is a real question that has come up on a few walks recently. Oslo isn’t exactly overflowing with typical sports bars, but there are three stand‑outs you should know about when you’re hunting for a big‑screen, beer‑in‑hand, shoulder‑to‑shoulder experience on final night. We’ve split them by vibe rather than price this week, because the main currency here is atmosphere.

Old‑school intensity: Bohemen Sportspub

Bohemen is a 30‑second detour off Karl Johan and it feels like a time capsule. The walls and ceiling are plastered with football scarves, shirts and pennants, and there are eight TV screens (sometimes nine) tuned to different games The pub is owned by Vålerenga supporters and has the feel of a living room where everyone actually wants you thereExpect cheap beer, knowledgeable regulars and the occasional quiz night. If you want your final experience to feel like an old‑fashioned football clubhouse, this is the one.

Big‑chain comfort: O’Learys

O’Learys sits just off Karl Johan and is modelled on a Boston sports bar. You get burgers – including a Boston Celtic BBQ burger – and plenty of plant‑based options; the crowd spans families, tourists and after‑work groupThey show everything from football to NFL, NHL, tennis and snooker, so you know the Champions League final will be on. The atmosphere is slightly more polished than Bohemen, the menu is bigger, and there are enough screens that nobody has to crane their neck.

Loud‑and‑legendary: O’Reilly’s

Down in Grünerløkka on Markveien, O’Reilly’s has forty‑eight TVs and feels like a cross between an Irish pub and a mini sports arena They pour Irish whiskeys, serve craft beers, and there are pool tables, darts boards and foosball if you need to burn nervous energy during half‑time. Friday is quiz night, so call ahead if you’re planning on watching something then, but for the final this will be a raucous, everyone‑is‑welcome choice. Expect chanting, spilled drinks and new friends.

Non-typical sports-bar atmosphere: The Wild Rover

The Wild Rover is not the obvious “sports bar” pick, which is exactly why it works. It has more of a classic Irish pub feel than a big-chain match-day venue, but with two floors, big screens and plenty of seating, it becomes a very strong choice when a major final is on.

This is the one for readers who want the big-match buzz without feeling like they are in a themed sports complex. You can settle in with a pint, find a decent view of the screen and soak up the atmosphere as the place gradually turns from relaxed pub into full match-day mode.

Dream House of the Week: Waterfront privacy on Ormøya

Ormsundveien 31, 0198 Oslo – This week’s dream home is a secluded waterfront detached house on beautiful Ormøya, offering the rare Oslo combination of sea views, private outdoor space, its own pier and city-centre access in around 10 minutes.

You know a view like this doesn’t come cheap

Priced at 29,900,000 kr, this is not a casual browse. It is very much in the “dream house” category. But for that, you get a 322 m² freehold home on a generous 1,680 m² owned plot, with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, spacious living areas and large windows designed to pull in the light and the view.

The setting is the real headline. The property sits by the water in a quiet, sheltered part of Ormøya, with sun through the day, a garden, terrace space, swimming nearby and boat mooring facilities. It has the feel of a southern Norwegian seaside escape, while still being close to Bekkelagsbadet, Ekebergparken, schools, kindergartens and central Oslo.

The house was originally built in 1975, upgraded between 2008 and 2010, and further modernised in 2020, giving it a high-standard finish with practical family living in mind. There is also a flexible guest or self-contained section option, which could work well for visiting family, older children, an au pair setup or longer-stay guests.

Ormsundveien 31 is listed at 29,900,000 kr, with a total price of 30,666,490 kr including costs. This is a big-ticket Oslo home, of course but with waterfront, privacy, space and a pier, it earns its place as this week’s dream house.

Eat & Drink: Brasserie Ouest

If you’ve ever found yourself longing for Paris without the flight, Brasserie Ouest might be your answer. It’s a modern brasserie and wine bar in the heart of Frogner, inspired by the grand Parisian brasserie culture. Think high ceilings, bentwood chairs and a room buzzing with that distinctly continental balance of relaxed and busyThe restaurant bills itself as suitable for almost anything – a quick bite at the bar, a romantic dinner, a family meal or a whole evening out with friends.

This is not the stripped‑down Nordic minimalism you see everywhere else. Brasserie Ouest leans into butter, wine, steak frites and confit. The à la carte menu changes with the seasons, but you can expect classics like moules frites, oysters and confit de canard alongside Norwegian twists. It’s part of the Eik & Friends group, which is usually a good sign for quality. Opening hours are Tuesday–Friday 17:00–23:00, Saturday 14:00–23:00 and Sunday 16:00–21:30 so this is more of a dinner destination than a lunch spot. You can book a table or take your chances – the bar seats are often easier to snag if you just show up.

The wines are predominantly French, the waiters actually know the difference between a Chablis and a Côte du Rhône, and there’s a tiny eight‑seat bar if you want to drop in for oysters and a glass of something cold It’s not cheap, but it isn’t eye‑wateringly expensive either; expect mains to hover around 350–500 kr and shareable starters around 150–200 kr. Good for date night, celebrations, or when you need to feel like you’re somewhere else for a couple of hours without leaving Frogner.

Most of us think about beds like we think about the doctor, we only take action when something goes wrong.

Coco Mat makes it easy to help you sleep better

Bad back. Poor sleep. Waking up tired. That slow, slightly tragic shuffle to the coffee machine before the day has even begun.

COCO-MAT takes a different view.

At their Oslo store, they help people choose natural beds, mattresses and sleep systems designed around support, comfort and proper rest. No springs. No creaking. No “one-size-fits-all” mattress pretending every body sleeps the same way.

Instead, COCO-MAT uses natural materials such as coconut fibre and natural latex to create even support without pressure points. The idea is simple: your bed should adapt to your body, not force your body to adapt to it.

And because choosing the right bed is not something most of us do every week, the COCO-MAT team personally guide you through it.

You can visit the Oslo store for a relaxed rest-test, or book a private consultation to find the mattress, bed or layered sleep system that suits you best.

Because the truth is, you feel your bed more than almost anything else you own.

Grace Church Oslo
If you’re looking for an English-speaking church in Oslo that feels warm, welcoming and genuinely community-minded, Grace International Church of Oslo is well worth knowing about. It has the kind of atmosphere that can be hard to find in a city: a real mix of Norwegians, expats and long-term locals, with the sort of friendliness that makes it feel less like attending a service and more like arriving somewhere people are actually glad to see you.
They normally meet on Sundays at 11am, with food and fellowship afterwards, and for many people that shared time seems to be part of the appeal. It is not just somewhere to sit through a service and slip quietly out again, but somewhere that seems to offer real friendship, support and spiritual grounding under one roof.

Critical Mass Oslo at Youngstorget A rolling city gathering for anyone who thinks Oslo is better seen from two wheels than through a windscreen. Critical Mass is part bike ride, part peaceful street celebration, with music, good mood and a simple message: cyclists are traffic too. All non-motorised wheels are welcome, including e-bikes.

I Am More Tired Than My Cat at Vacant Editions For a proper under-the-radar art pick, artist-run print studio Vacant Editions opens a new exhibition with Icelandic painter Georg Óskar, mixing monotypes, print editions, drawings and paintings into a funny, frazzled and slightly chaotic look at modern exhaustion..

Cue Market – Spring Edition at Cue Oslo Cue turns from billiards hangout into a one-day creative market with vintage clothes, vinyl, local makers, handmade goods, DJs and even a Syverkiosken pop-up. A good one for readers who want a Sunday browse that feels more local than polished.
